Three small-app lessons worth reading

A revenue update with the awkward numbers included. An onboarding test that split two people. A reason to use an app its maker learned from users.

These are first-hand accounts from smaller creators. The posts span 23 September–2 October, not just today. Figures and outcomes are the creators' own reports.

Look at trials alongside revenue

Luka reports $282 MRR across his small-app portfolio, then breaks down renewals, purchases and trials. Nine people turned renewal off during their trial; five paid when theirs ended. That detail makes the update useful beyond its headline revenue.

The takeaway: when sharing progress, include where people drop out as well as what grew. These counts alone do not establish a conversion rate—the groups may differ.

Try the same screen with different people

Roy tested Blind with a friend and his mother. The friend moved through it easily; his mother needed guidance on the same screen.

The takeaway: observe someone outside your usual test circle using the product. Two sessions do not establish a rule about age, but the contrast identifies a screen worth investigating.

Listen for the outcome people actually want

Eric says improving sleep was the most common reason people gave for using his app, ahead of reducing doomscrolling and getting work done.

The takeaway: users' own reasons can reveal a different emphasis for onboarding and messaging. The post does not give the response count or show that a messaging change improved sales.
